  23. In real life it will only get a wee bit faster in actual transfer to go 
  24. from 38400 on the port to 57600, on my A2k (or with 38400 on this 
  25. machine) I get some 3500 bps, and with 57600 it only occasionally gets 
  26. as high as 3700. Forcing an 8520 port to 57600 only increases the number 
  27. of errors and can lead to a reduced throughput, but with an advanced OS 
  28. you might get away with it, somewhat depending on hardware architecture 
  29. and harddisk controller. OS/2 does it nicely on this machine, but it 
  30. doesn't get the full 5400 bps throughput a 0-modem should permit, it 
  31. still only gets some 3500 bps through the port. On a similar note, I 
  32. have a spare A2k without accelerator, put an old GVP, rom 3.17 I think, 
  33. in it, and it does 38400 on the port without errors, but with a slight 
  34. decrease in throughput to some 3000 bps. I'm glad I didn't get a new rom 
  35. for that one!
